You’re probably in a hurry right now. Skimming this post somewhere in your feed during lunch, dinner, your commute, or while sitting on the toilet, bored and killing time between other things.
We’re already moving fast, and AI is making us move even faster. That’s great, but I’ve noticed a problem in myself.
Sitting in Figma and working on a design for two or three hours straight has become difficult. Writing something entirely by myself has too.
When you can get a mediocre result almost instantly, it becomes tempting to accept it and move on. Then improving it starts to feel harder and harder. Your quality bar drops. The effort required begins to seem disproportionate.
And just like that, you’re a shit maker.
With AI, the ratio between effort and output really is incredible. But that doesn’t mean the output itself is incredible.
I’m learning to slow down because I’m not as fast as AI. I need time to think. Sometimes a full day to make a design in Figma. Or an hour to formulate a post like this by hand.
