Same 12-second animation: 7 minutes in Cavalry, 35 in Remotion.
I gave ChatGPT the same brief for both and let it write the code. Cavalry has scripting built right into a visual editor, so a rough cut lands fast. Remotion turns animation into React, HTML, CSS and JS, so every small change means writing and re-checking code — and that alone made it five times slower.
Video keeps mattering more for products: it sells, explains, documents. There's no obvious best tool for it yet, but between code-first and visual-first, I'm betting on a hybrid — html/css/js as the engine, a real visual editor on top.
