Sometimes, we devise a process so complex that it actually hinders the work itself.
Suppose you decide to write articles — complete with research, polished illustrations, and a unique cover image for every social media post. It’s a great concept; you want to create a professional, high-quality product that’s a pleasure to look at.
A month or two goes by, and nothing has been written. Why? Unclear. You just don’t feel like doing it.
The reason is simple. You wanted to write. You had something to say and wanted to share your perspective. You didn’t necessarily want to conduct research to verify or challenge your claims, nor did you want to create illustrations. Yet, you inadvertently burdened yourself with a set of rules instead of a straightforward process.
If you find it difficult to keep something going, ask yourself: what is the core of this, and what did I add simply because "that’s how it’s supposed to be done"? Then, try to strip it down to just the essentials.
This is advice primarily for myself, of course.
